Interview / Q&A

Straight answers.

The questions recruiters and hiring teams ask, answered the way I'd answer them in the room.

What's your background?

I've been in IT since 1998 — so going on three decades now. The last twelve years were spent supporting Microsoft 365 and SharePoint for a North American manufacturing operation, which meant serving both office teams and people out on the floor.

Before that, at LIN Media, I built a SharePoint intranet for Legal, Finance, HR, and Tax — InfoPath forms and Nintex approval workflows. That's where I learned how much a well-built form can change how a department runs.

What kind of work are you known for?

Forms and workflows people actually use. At the manufacturing operation, I built sixteen of them in production — thirteen in Power Apps with Power Automate approval flows, three in Microsoft Forms — and kept them working through three generations of the SharePoint platform.

But honestly, the building was never the whole job. Every one of those started with sitting down and understanding the process — what people actually needed to keep doing — and only then deciding what to build.

How do you approach a new project?

I start with the process, not the tool. Before I open Power Apps or anything else, I want to know how requests really move today — who approves what, where things stall, what people do with a workaround spreadsheet they trust more than the system.

Then I build around that. The tools have changed a lot since 1998, but the work itself hasn't: connect what a department needs to a system that actually holds up.

What's your experience with AI in a business setting?

Very hands-on, and very practical. I've supported AI adoption for a North American site — the acceptable-use attestation, training completion, one-to-one prompting help, and ongoing tips for people as they got comfortable with the tools.

Here's what I've learned: the announcement is the easy part. What matters is what happens after — helping teams find real use cases, get past the fear of doing it wrong, and build the kind of everyday habits that make the tools stick.

What do you consult on now?

I run AskKhamsay, my consulting practice — Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and practical AI adoption. In plain terms: you tell me what the business needs, and I build the thing people will actually use.

It comes in a few shapes. There's a fixed-price 75-minute AI Strategy & Discovery Session if you want a starting point, and from there consulting days, variable-scope projects, or monthly advisory if you want me around longer.

Where are you based, and what are your rates?

Rhode Island — and I work both remote and on-site, whichever the project needs.

As for rates, I keep them published so there's no guessing: $750 for the AI Strategy & Discovery Session, $1,600 per consulting day, variable-scope projects from $2,500, and monthly advisory from $2,500. If you want the details, they're all on my Services page.

Anything else?

If a role or project needs something you don't see here, ask me directly.
